The Zeta Iota Chapter at the University of Nevada, Reno has once again been recognized for their outstanding achievements. For the 17th year in a row, the chapter has been awarded the Superior Chapter status by the Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) National Council.
BAP is a renowned international honors organization for financial information majors, emphasizing academic excellence, professional development, and community service. The Zeta Iota chapter has been an active presence on the university campus since 1981, consistently participating in professional and community events.
The success of the Zeta Iota chapter can be attributed to the strong camaraderie and collaboration among its members. Their dedication to holding professional events has been notable, with activities such as professional lunches, firm tours, the “Meet the Firms” event, and a spring banquet.
Professional lunches provide BAP members with invaluable industry-relevant insights. Meanwhile, firm tours offer students the opportunity to visit prestigious companies and gain firsthand knowledge about the working environment. The “Meet the Firms” event is a career fair that specifically caters to accounting, finance, and information systems students.
Engagement in community service is also a priority for the Zeta Iota chapter. They actively participate in various volunteering opportunities with local nonprofits. Additionally, they support the Professional Student Closet on campus, which provides resources for students who may need assistance.
The Superior Chapter recognition not only showcases the unity and accomplishments of the Zeta Iota chapter but also demonstrates their unwavering commitment to excellence. According to Beta Alpha Psi President Kate Wong, this achievement is a testament to the collective efforts of the chapter’s members.
Looking towards the future, the chapter’s executive board is already strategizing ways to improve and expand the organization. Membership growth and enhancing operations are two key areas of focus. Their plans include reducing community service requirements and exploring innovative ways to conduct firm tours.
Interested students can join Beta Alpha Psi by reaching out to the chapter president via email or Instagram. The organization recruits new members every semester, welcoming aspiring financial professionals with open arms.
The Zeta Iota chapter’s consistent success and their dedication to personal growth, professional development, and community service are shining examples of the enriching opportunities available to students within the MBA program.
