My MBA Career – Exam Results Support for Pupils in Scotland
Last Updated on August 9, 2023 by Robert C. Hoopes
Over 144,000 pupils across Scotland will have access to valuable advice and guidance following the release of their exam results. The Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Results Helpline, comprised of over 30 careers advisors, will commence its four-day operation on Tuesday, August 8th.
The helpline serves as a platform to provide impartial careers advice and assistance to students and their parents or carers after receiving their exam results. Recognizing the importance of this resource, Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth recently visited an SDS Results Helpline center in Edinburgh to gain insight into its operations and how it benefits students.
Amidst a day filled with a myriad of emotions for many, Gilruth emphasized the value of conversing with impartial and knowledgeable experts. These experts help pupils navigate the best path forward following their results, ensuring they make informed decisions about their future.
Sharon McIntyre, the Head of Career Information, Advice, and Guidance Operations at SDS, underlined the significance of the helpline for anxious pupils, parents, and carers. Concerned parties can contact the helpline at 0808 100 8000. The helpline will be active from 8 am to 8 pm on August 8th and 9th, and from 9 am to 5 pm on August 10th and 11th.
The careers advisors manning the helpline will offer guidance on various options available to students after finishing school. These options include pursuing further education in UK colleges and universities, navigating the Confirmation and Clearing process, exploring apprenticeships, seeking employment opportunities, or engaging in volunteer work.
Additionally, students can also access the SQA Candidate Advice Line (CAL) at 0345 279 1000 for support and information regarding the Scottish Qualification Certificates.
This initiative by the Skills Development Scotland ensures that students have access to professional advice and support during a time of great significance in their academic journey. It aims to help them make informed decisions about their future endeavors, equipping them with the tools necessary to achieve success in their chosen career paths.
