Missouri State University to Launch STEM-focused MBA Program
Missouri State University is set to introduce a new Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree program with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) starting this fall. The STEM-focused MBA program was approved by the Board of Governors in January and has received final approval from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development as well as the Higher Learning Commission.
Dr. Elizabeth Rozell, the associate dean and director of MBA programs at Missouri State, believes that the new program will not only offer additional career opportunities for students but also complement recruiting efforts. This STEM MBA program is the first of its kind at a public institution in Missouri and aims to increase interest in STEM fields for domestic students while providing more opportunities for international students seeking work in the United States.
Moreover, the program has been recognized as a STEM-designated program by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, enabling international students with an F-1 visa status to have a 24-month extension of optional practical training. The STEM MBA curriculum combines business acumen with technological innovation, offering traditional MBA courses alongside STEM-focused electives such as cybersecurity and data analytics.
Students will have the option to complete the STEM MBA in the same timeframe as a traditional MBA. Missouri State University currently offers traditional, fully online, and accelerated MBA programs. Notably, the MBA program at Missouri State is one of only 10% in U.S. colleges that is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.
Overall, the launch of the STEM-focused MBA program at Missouri State University signifies a significant step towards providing students with a specialized education that aligns with the demands of the modern workforce.
