Lucy Alexandra Spencer: The Educator Bringing Education to Wealthy Families Through Travel
Former primary school teacher Lucy Alexandra Spencer has found a unique way to blend education and travel by providing her services to wealthy European and American families. Spencer, who prefers to be known as an “educator,” has spent about two years abroad, including a memorable eight-month trip to Europe, the United States, and the Middle East.
Families are willing to pay a premium of approximately £8,000 to £10,000 a month for Spencer’s services, which includes flights, accommodations, and meals. Spencer spends about four hours a day teaching children and ensures that her lessons incorporate local culture, cuisine, and customs.
As the founder of Education Boutique, a private tutoring business with around 30,000 teachers, Spencer has made it her mission to make traveling teachers more accessible to families. Around 10% of her business involves traveling teaching gigs, where she works with families who are looking for alternative ways of learning for their children.
In an effort to create more affordable options, Spencer is exploring the idea of pairing families with students taking a gap year who can educate their children while traveling. She believes that engaging young people on a gap year can not only educate students but also provide them with valuable experience and cultural immersion.
By offering a unique and personalized approach to education through travel, Lucy Alexandra Spencer is revolutionizing the way families view education for their children. As she continues to expand her reach and offer more affordable options, Spencer is sure to leave a lasting impact on the world of education.
