The Race to the Men’s Frozen Four Begins with Conference Tournaments

As college hockey fans gear up for the excitement of the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament, the road to the Frozen Four is set to kick off with conference tournaments offering six automatic berths for the NCAA field. The bracket for the 16-team NCAA field will be revealed on March 24, with regionals scheduled from March 28 to March 31 and the Frozen Four set for April 11 and 13 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The winners of the six conference tournaments and 10 at-large teams will make up the 16-team field, with at-large teams determined by PairWise rankings. Conference tournaments to watch out for include the Atlantic, Big Ten, CCHA, ECAC, Hockey East, and NCHC.

RIT has clinched the Atlantic regular-season title and is gearing up to face the top four seeds in a best-of-three quarterfinal series. Michigan State, on the other hand, has earned a bye in the Big Ten tournament after claiming their first regular-season title.

In the CCHA, Bemidji State emerged as the regular-season champion and will host best-of-three quarterfinals. Quinnipiac secured their fourth straight ECAC regular-season title, with top teams receiving first-round byes.

Boston College clinched their 18th Hockey East regular-season title and is ready for a single-elimination tournament. North Dakota, meanwhile, clinched its sixth NCHC regular-season title, and top seeds will host best-of-three quarterfinal series.

The semifinals and finals for each conference tournament will be held on various dates, with the Frozen Four set for April 11 and 13. Stay tuned as the race to the Frozen Four heats up in the coming weeks.
