Last Updated on March 20, 2024 by Robert C. Hoopes
The College of Engineering and Computing at the University of South Carolina has joined forces with the Darla Moore School of Business to create an innovative 4+1 pathway partnership for students looking to further their education and career prospects. This new collaboration allows students to earn both an undergraduate degree from the College of Engineering and Computing and a master’s degree from the Moore School in just five years.
One of the key benefits of this partnership is that engineering and computing graduates will receive priority for direct admissions into the Moore School’s highly esteemed MBA or Master of Business Analytics program. To qualify, students must graduate with a minimum GPA of 3.2 and meet the general admissions standards for the graduate program.
Current engineering and computing students can apply for the program starting in their senior year, while previous graduates are also eligible to participate. The goal of this partnership is to address workforce needs in South Carolina by equipping students with in-demand technical skills and leadership abilities.
Dean Hossein Haj-Hariri of the College of Engineering and Computing believes that this initiative will not only drive economic growth in the state but also promote social mobility. One student, William Joyce, expressed his excitement about the opportunity to blend his mechanical engineering background with business operations knowledge to pursue a career in project management.
Dean Rohit Verma of the Darla Moore School of Business highlights the success of engineers as business students, noting that they excel in a variety of business areas. The partnership aims to create a pipeline for retaining talent within the state and preparing students for leadership roles in the future.
Overall, this new 4+1 pathway partnership between the College of Engineering and Computing and the Darla Moore School of Business demonstrates the commitment of both schools to providing students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in today’s competitive job market.
