My MBA Journey: July 2023 Times/Siena Poll Insights among Registered Voters

Siena College Research Institute recently conducted a comprehensive survey to gauge the opinions of registered voters and likely Republican primary electorate. With an aim to understand the mindset of Americans, respondents were promised complete anonymity and given the option to be contacted by a reporter. The survey consisted of probing questions relating to religious affiliation, income, political ideology, and demographic information.

One of the main areas of focus was America’s current state and whether respondents believed the country was in danger of failing. The survey also delved into their perspective on Donald Trump’s actions post the 2020 election, as well as their stance on key policy issues such as immigration, support for Ukraine, and same-sex marriage. Other crucial topics included abortion and Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents.

Furthermore, Democratic primary voters were asked about their sentiments towards potential candidates for the upcoming elections, including Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. The respondents were also probed to ascertain their preferred party affiliation and candidate for the highly-anticipated 2024 presidential election.

The survey also sought to measure public opinion towards various politicians, such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Mike Pence, Joe Biden, Ron DeSantis, and, of course, Donald Trump. Additionally, the assessment involved evaluating the approval rating of Joe Biden’s job as president.

To provide a holistic understanding of the respondents’ mindset, they were asked whether they believed the United States was on the right track or headed in the wrong direction.

This extensive survey was conducted from July 23 to 27, 2023, and featured a diverse group of 1,329 registered voters from across the nation. Additionally, an oversample of 818 registered Republican voters was included to accurately reflect the likely Republican primary electorate. The margin of sampling error was plus or minus 3.67 percentage points for all registered voters and plus or minus 3.96 percentage points for likely Republican primary electorate. With such a vast and diverse sample, the survey results provide valuable insights into the thoughts and opinions of Americans on a wide range of issues, promising to inform conversations and decisions in the political landscape.
