Last Updated on December 25, 2023 by Robert C. Hoopes
Bishop Kelley High School’s standout football players, Sam Rhoades V and Reid Jones, have recently committed to play college football at Air Force and Central Arkansas, respectively. The news comes as a culmination of years of hard work and dedication for both athletes.
Rhoades, who had considered offers from Army and New Mexico State as well, ultimately chose Air Force for its unique combination of high-level football and prestigious academics. He firmly believes that the Air Force will provide him with the tools necessary for success both on and off the field.
Jones, on the other hand, had some nerves on signing day but ultimately decided on Central Arkansas after a heart-to-heart conversation with his parents. To accommodate his mother’s upcoming knee replacement surgery, Jones has decided to delay his signing ceremony until February.
Both players have been recognized for their immense potential since their sophomore years by their coach, JJ Tappana. He praised Rhoades and Jones for their unwavering dedication and determination, referring to them as the anchors of the senior class. Their leadership qualities and commitment to the team played a crucial role in helping the Comets secure a district title and make it to the 5A state quarterfinals.
As these two talented athletes prepare to embark on their college football careers, their former high school teammates, coaches, and fans wish them all the success in their future endeavors. The signing of Rhoades and Jones is a testament to their hard work and serves as an inspiration to the aspiring athletes at Bishop Kelley High School.
