UC Berkeley Computer Science Professor Jonathan Shewchuk Faces Backlash for Controversial Dating Comments

UC Berkeley’s computer science professor, Jonathan Shewchuk, recently found himself in hot water after making comments to a student suggesting that dating is easier outside the Bay Area. The professor received backlash for his remarks, with a school spokesperson describing them as “hurtful and threatening to students — especially women.”
