School District in Ohio to Lay Off 80 Employees for Upcoming School Year
Last Updated on March 10, 2024 by Robert C. Hoopes
Mt. Healthy City Schools in Ohio recently announced layoffs for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, impacting a total of 80 employees. Among those affected, 67 are teachers, nine are administrators, and four are exempt staff positions.
These layoffs were deemed necessary for the long-term stability of the educational programs and services offered by the district. Superintendent Dr. Valerie Hawkins emphasized the district’s commitment to supporting employees during this transition period. The district plans to honor contracts and continue paying employees throughout the designated period.
The announcement was made early in order to give teachers ample time to seek out new employment opportunities. Additionally, the district is actively communicating with other school districts to explore potential job openings for the impacted employees.
This news comes as a blow to those affected, but the district is working diligently to assist with the transition and ensure the best outcome for all involved. My MBA Career will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
