Sitka, Alaska Ranks No. 4 City with Least Competition for Highly Paid Jobs
According to a recent analysis from Career.io, Sitka, Alaska has been identified as the No. 4 city with the least competition for highly paid jobs. The study looked at cities with the lowest rates of job applicants for high-paying positions using data from LinkedIn and the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Interestingly, in each of the top 10 cities with low competition, virtually zero applicants are applying for high-paying vacancies on a daily basis. Surprisingly, even smaller towns like Toledo, Ohio, which ranked at No. 19, also have very low competition for highly paid jobs.
Other cities that made the top 10 list for low competition in highly paid jobs include Parkersburg, West Virginia, Nampa, Idaho, Butte, Montana, Grand Island, Nebraska, Kearney, Nebraska, Dover, New Hampshire, Laredo, Texas, Morgantown, West Virginia, and Olathe, Kansas. The lack of competition in these cities is not reflective of lower pay scales but rather a shortage of candidates.
The analysis also revealed that the most common highly paid but non-competitive roles are in health care and sales. On the contrary, Salt Lake City was identified as the most competitive city for landing a highly paid job, with an average of 35 applicants applying for each open position on a daily basis.
Interestingly, cities inland like St. Louis and Denver showed more intense competition for high-paying jobs compared to coastal cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.
