Job Postings in Research Triangle Park Area Expected to Remain Low in 2022
According to recent reports from the NC Technology Association (NC TECH), job postings in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area are significantly lower than last year and may continue to remain low throughout the rest of the year. The NC TECH released its monthly snapshot of available IT positions in the state, revealing a staggering 52% decrease in October postings compared to the same month in 2022.
Andrea Fleming, the Director of Talent and Workforce Development at NC TECH, explained that job postings typically experience a slowdown in the fourth quarter before rebounding in the first quarter. This trend is not uncommon and has been observed over the years. Although the decrease in job postings may be discouraging for job seekers in the RTP area, there is hope on the horizon.
Rod Frankel, the President of Frankel Staffing Partners, offered some insight into the hiring landscape during this time of the year. He noted that the staffing industry experiences a slowdown from Thanksgiving through the end of the year. However, there are still some bright spots, such as temporary and holiday workers, so job seekers should keep an eye out for these opportunities.
The exclusive WRAL TechWire Jobs Report also revealed a decrease in job openings in the Triangle compared to the previous week. Although the decrease was only 2.7%, it still contributes to the overall shortage of available positions.
Job seekers in the Triangle area should take advantage of additional resources to find job postings. Upcoming job fairs, student-centric resources, and various Twitter accounts that regularly share local job openings can be valuable sources of leads. These resources can help job seekers stay up to date with the latest opportunities and increase their chances of finding employment.
While the current job posting situation may be challenging, it’s essential to stay optimistic and proactive in the job search. As the year comes to a close and the new year approaches, it is expected that job postings will pick up once again. In the meantime, job seekers should explore alternative options, such as temporary or holiday positions, to gain valuable experience and income.
Overall, it is crucial to remain resilient during this period of lower job postings in the RTP area. By utilizing available resources and staying proactive, job seekers can increase their chances of landing their desired positions in the ever-evolving job market.
