According to data released by the Ministry of Education, a staggering number of teachers – over 1,100 – have been subjected to physical assault or attacks by students and parents between 2018 and 2022. Additionally, there were more than 2,000 reported cases of students breaching teachers’ rights in classrooms just last year.

In response to these alarming statistics, teachers are advocating for the enactment of a law that addresses working conditions. They are specifically calling for the recruitment of teachers who specialize in at-risk or special needs students, as well as the creation of an administrative body to effectively handle parental complaints.

While teachers are calling for the implementation of laws and measures to protect their rights, they also emphasize the need for changes in school culture and policies. Only by addressing these key issues can meaningful change be achieved in the education landscape.
