My MBA Career: Las Vegas office managers downfall after $500K theft accusation
Last Updated on March 22, 2024 by Robert C. Hoopes
Former Las Vegas office manager, Gimma Flores, is facing charges of forgery and theft after allegedly stealing nearly half a million dollars from her employer. Documents obtained by 8 News Now Investigators reveal that Flores cashed over 600 unauthorized checks between 2017 and 2022 while working for Nevco Air Conditioning and Sheet Metal.
The scheme was uncovered when the owner of the company received an alert from the bank about a $1,000 transaction for petty cash. Upon further investigation, the owner found hundreds of similar unauthorized checks that had been cashed by Flores. Confronting her in the office on October 26, 2022, Flores fled the scene and was later discovered to have moved out of state.
After nearly 18 months, Flores was arrested and appeared before Judge Amy Chelini, who released her on her own recognizance. A court date has been set for April to hear the case against Flores. The owner of Nevco Air Conditioning and Sheet Metal is seeking justice and hopes that Flores will be held accountable for her actions.
