Former Longley Elementary School in Lewiston was targeted again by vandals for the second time in just two years. This time, five children were responsible for breaking into the school premises and causing extensive damage to classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and common areas.

Lewiston Schools Superintendent, Jake Langlais, confirmed that the culprits behind the break-in were apprehended by the Lewiston Police Department. The school staff worked tirelessly to clean up the mess and repair the damage on Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

Despite the break-in and the resulting chaos, classes at the school will proceed as scheduled. Langlais emphasized the importance of maintaining normalcy for the students, even during challenging times. Unfortunately, this is not the first incident of its kind at Longley Elementary School. Last year, four juveniles were charged with a similar break-in, causing over $100,000 worth of damage to the now adult-education school.
