A pro-Palestinian group has recently filed a federal lawsuit against Columbia University, alleging that anti-Israel protesters are facing harassment on campus. The complaint calls for an investigation into the alleged discrimination and mistreatment of pro-Palestinian students by Columbia students, professors, and administrators.

Jewish community leaders and students have expressed concerns about safety at the Ivy League school due to the ongoing protests and encampments. Pro-Palestinian students claim to have been subjected to extreme anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab, and Islamophobic harassment, including death threats and derogatory remarks.

The group accuses Columbia of failing to protect and support pro-Palestinian students, citing instances of arrests and suspensions for peaceful protesting. In response, Palestine Legal has partnered with the New York City Liberties Union in the lawsuit against Columbia for suspending student groups engaging in peaceful protest.

Despite repeated requests for comment, neither Columbia nor Palestine Legal have immediately responded, and the Department of Education has yet to comment on the matter. The lawsuit raises important questions about free speech, discrimination, and the responsibility of universities to ensure the safety and well-being of all their students.
