Burglars Tunneling Through Businesses to Reach Jewelry Store: A Highly Coordinated Effort
Last Updated on March 27, 2024 by Robert C. Hoopes
In a string of daring burglaries in Los Angeles, thieves are using sledgehammers to tunnel their way into local businesses. The latest incident occurred early Monday morning at Denny Lesser Jewelers in Chatsworth, where suspects burrowed through three businesses and six walls in a strip mall to gain access.
Denny Lesser, the owner of the jewelry store, came face-to-face with one of the suspects who was wearing a dark hoodie, mask, and gloves while sledgehammering through a wall. Thankfully, Lesser was able to scare off the burglar who then fled the scene. LAPD has confirmed this incident and a similar burglary at Gilded Jewelry in Downtown Los Angeles, both involving thieves using sledgehammers to break into the stores.
This is not the first time such bold break-ins have occurred in the area, with thieves attempting similar tactics at other stores. In fact, just last year, burglars made off with $5 million in merchandise from a Beverly Hills jewelry store using sledgehammers. Authorities are now investigating these incidents and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
These brazen burglaries serve as a stark reminder for local businesses to remain vigilant and take necessary security precautions. As the investigation continues, residents and store owners are on edge, hoping that those responsible for these crimes will be brought to justice soon.
