Columbia University in the Spotlight as Pro-Palestine Protests Escalate
New York City – Columbia University has become the focal point of intense pro-Palestine protests, amid the ongoing military conflict between Israel and Gaza. The protests, which have led to mass arrests, have been described as reaching a “fever pitch” by a part-time student at the university.
Despite the arrests, students and anti-Israel agitators continued their demonstrations, with some camping out on school grounds and calling for divestment from companies with ties to Israel. A total of 108 people were arrested for trespassing, with two additional arrests for obstruction of governmental administration.
The protests have not only taken place on campus, but also spilled over onto the streets surrounding the university. Witnesses have reported that the demonstrators outside the university have been more aggressive and radical in their actions.
