The Hope College baseball team faced a tough 11-3 loss against Adrian College in a recent game at Boeve Baseball Stadium. The game, part of a doubleheader, saw the second game remain unfinished and the cancellation of Game 3 by MIAA Commissioner Dr. Chris Brown.

The decision to cancel Game 3 came after a benches-clearing incident during the second game, which resulted in ejections and suspensions for players from both teams. Consequently, both teams will have to forfeit their next scheduled game, leading to the cancellation of the following day’s match between Adrian College and Hope College, marked as a double-forfeit.

The MIAA stressed the importance of sportsmanship and respect for opponents in the aftermath of the incident, urging member schools to reflect on these values. Hope College’s current record stands at 19-16 overall, with a 12-6 record in MIAA play. The team will wrap up their regular season with a three-game series against Calvin University on May 2-3.

Despite the loss to Adrian College, several players from Hope College delivered strong performances, including Cade Seabaugh, Brenden Collins, and Devin Meeuwsen. Pitcher Jakob Charles notably settled down after the fourth inning in the next game, pitching a complete game while allowing seven hits and striking out five batters. As the team heads into the final stretch of the season, they will be looking to bounce back and finish strong.
