My MBA Career: Baseball Drops One Game to Adrian; Ejections Result in Double Forfeits for Games Two and Three of the Series
Last Updated on April 28, 2024 by Robert C. Hoopes
The Hope College baseball team faced a tough 11-3 loss to Adrian College in a recent game at Boeve Baseball Stadium. The second game of the doubleheader was cut short due to a collision between players that led to both teams’ benches clearing onto the field. This resulted in automatic ejections and one-game suspensions for those involved, as per NCAA rules.
As a result of the incident, both teams will have to forfeit their next scheduled games. The Flying Dutchmen’s record now stands at 19-16 overall and 12-6 in MIAA play. They will wrap up the regular season with a three-game series against Calvin University on May 2-3.
Despite the loss, Hope put up a good fight with Cade Seabaugh and Brenden Collins delivering RBI singles, and Devin Meeuwsen knocking in the team’s final run with a sacrifice fly. However, Adrian pulled ahead with seven runs in the final four innings to secure their victory.
The winning pitcher, Jakob Charles, had a strong performance allowing seven hits and striking out five in a complete game. The game certainly had its share of drama, and both teams will now have to focus on finishing the season on a high note in their upcoming matchups.
