Elon University Golfer Finishes Fall Season Strong
Elon University golfer, Zach Wieler, ended his fall season on a high note by finishing with a birdie on the 18th hole of the Bryan National Collegiate. This impressive shot secured Wieler’s 10th round of par or better in 15 tries this fall, earning him his second career top-10 finish.
Reflecting on his performance, Wieler expressed satisfaction with his overall game, stating that he hit the ball solidly throughout the week and made notable improvements on his play on the par fives. Wieler credits the birdie on the 18th hole for his ninth place finish, highlighting the significance of carrying momentum into the upcoming spring season.
Wieler, who participated in all five of Elon University’s fall tournaments, expressed his enjoyment of his first taste of college golf and commended his coaches and teammates for their support and guidance.
Not only did Wieler have a successful fall season individually, but the Elon University men’s golf team also had a strong showing. The team secured its third runner-up finish as a team this fall, with the maroon and gold placing first or second in four out of five events.
Looking ahead to the spring, the team’s focus will be on improving their starts to complement their strong final round performances. Wieler believes that the team has the potential to secure wins in the upcoming season.
