The men’s NCAA hockey tournament has reached its pinnacle as the Frozen Four teams have been set. Boston College, Boston University, Denver, and Michigan are now set to compete for the national championship, with three of the four No. 1 seeds emerging from the regionals.
Michigan secured their spot in the Frozen Four with a 5-2 win over Michigan State, marking their third straight appearance in the tournament. Boston College, the No. 1 overall seed, fought off defending champion Quinnipiac in overtime to win the Providence Regional, while Boston University and Denver punched their tickets with wins over Minnesota and Cornell respectively.
The final four teams have a combined 28 national titles, with Denver and Michigan leading the pack with nine each. The national semifinals are scheduled for April 11, followed by the championship game on April 13 at the Xcel Energy Center, airing on ESPN networks.
Each team brings a unique history and strengths to the Frozen Four. Boston College is the defending champion, relying on young talent in their 26th appearance. Boston University is making back-to-back appearances for the first time in 27 years, having won the national title five times. Denver, with the highest scoring team in the country, will be making their fifth appearance in the last eight tournaments. Michigan is looking to continue their recent success with a third straight Frozen Four appearance.
The semifinal matchups will see Denver facing Boston University and Boston College taking on Michigan on April 11, with the winners advancing to the national championship game on April 13.
